"Elephants and grandchildren never forget" (--Andy Rooney)

The Elephant

When people call this beast to mind,
They marvel more and more,
At such a little tail behind,
So large a trunk before.

(--Hilaire Belloc)

Joe and I visited the Field Museum in Chicago, and saw these two giants in the grand lobby.   They seemed somehow graceful despite their enormity, to me.

You have such a wonderful light touch in your paintings, as if created out of chimera!

I think those same creatures were there when I was but a lass. Is that possible? Spent much time there and to this day I get a sort of museum headache. Take me to the gift shop.
